Using Winnipeg Sun App

With Winnipeg Sun App you can download your favorite newspaper and read it on-the-go using the application. This is great for people who want to read their favorite publications on mobile devices when they travel or commute.

Before being able to download publications for offline reading, you must install Winnipeg Sun App on your device and authorize it using the instructions below as a guide.

Authorizing Your Device

You will need a valid Winnipeg Sun App, Sun Media account to use Winnipeg Sun App. This account will allow you to read your purchased/downloaded publications not only through your device, but on all Winnipeg Sun App authorized devices or computers.

To Authorize the device:

 

Downloading a Publication to Winnipeg Sun App

To download a publication tap on “NewsStand”.

You can then select a title by either province.

You can also search for a title by using the search. Once you have found the title, you can tap to order it.




Once you choose the desired publication it will be downloaded to your device. This can sometimes take a few minutes, depending on the size of the publication.

Winnipeg Sun App allows you to manage publications in your personal library. Some issues will be self-managing and automatically removed as per publisher requirements, while other publications will remain until such time as you choose to delete them.

*Please Note: Downloaded publications are stored on the device's SD Card and will not be accessible if the device is in "USB Storage Mode"

 

Subscribe to Automatic Downloads

You can subscribe to automatic downloads of publications when new issues are published.

To do this:

Now every time you open Winnipeg Sun App, it will download the issues you’ve requested immediately.

To Unsubscribe:

Tap the name of the publication whose automatic delivery you would like to stop, and then tap “Unsubscribe"

 

Setting preferences

Winnipeg Sun App can be customized to meet your individual needs: simply tap the Settings button.

You can also manage the auto clean up of publications by selecting the number of days you would like to keep publications in your Library. Note: some issues will be self-managing and automatically removed as per publisher requirements.

My Newspapers

In the My Newspapers folder of the Winnipeg Sun App application your downloaded publications are listed chronologically or alphabetically. Flicking the up or down the list will show you the entire selection. To delete an issue, tap and hold the Title and select “Delete” from the popup menu.

 

User Interface

Winnipeg Sun App was developed to provide the user an intuitive and easy-to-use interface for reading their favorite publications on the go.

After selecting your newspaper you will see it in a full-page view. In Replica View you can zoom in with either a Double-Tap or by "Pinch".

A highlighted title is a SmartNavigation element and tapping it allows you to read the article in its entirety within the application. Tapping this, switches between full-page replica viewing mode and SmartNavigation mode where links are highlighted.

 

In "Text View" you can tap the Menu button on the bottom of your device to access the reading menu. From here you can increase/decrease the size of the font, share the article, or have the article read to you by Winnipeg Sun App.

The list icon will allow you to see the contents of the issue in either Page or Contents view and allow for simple navigation of the entire paper. To share an article there must be an E-Mail account setup on the device.
