  • Drivers Defect and Damages Report Notes

    Read very carefully this document.

Drivers are responsible for the condition of their vehicles when in use on the road and must report any defects that could prevent the safe operation of the vehicle. Failure to report such defects will be treated as a misconduct. Drivers are also financially responsible for damages shown to be their fault and incurred whilst a vehicle is in their possession.

Failure to report damages before taking any vehicle will result in the cost/responsibility being set against that driver. Drivers must continue to monitor the roadworthiness of their vehicles throughout the journey. When engaged in site work additional checks may be required before returning to the road. Defect reports must be given to the correct person at the correct time. Reports listing defects must be kept, with details of action taken, for 18 months.

No vehicle is to be driven away without a completed form returned to the office.
All defects not rectified must be recorded repeatedly even if the defect is known and a repair is planned.
This form is produced by the driver for company use only.

It may be used by the company as evidence in a disciplinary process.
Failure to complete a daily defect report before driving any JCC vehicle is a misconduct and repeated failures will be considered gross misconduct.
Gross misconduct may result in dismissal.
